Literature Objectives (Each grade is on a different level)
*Adjust reading speed for purpose, audience, and punctuation
*Read a variety of materials with appropriate phrasing and expression
*Demonstrate proficiency in reading comprehension on a grade appropriate level
*Use active reading strategies to preview, question, visualize, predict, etc.
*Evaluate for persuasive techniques, propaganda, bias, and stereotyping in a variety of media

*Identify the elements of a story
*Read, self-select, and experience a variety of materials for information and pleasure
*Identify various literary forms and genres

Participation 10%; Quizzes, Writing, other Activities (Formative) 40%; Tests (Summative) 50%
Cumulative Finals
Seventh grade and eighth grade will have a cumulative final for the first and second quarters. This exam is weighted as one test grade.

75% Language Arts: Grammar - Tests 50%; Workbook/Homework/Participation 5%; Quizzes, Writing, other Activities 45%
25% Language Arts: Vocabulary - Tests 50%; Workbook 25%; Flashcards, Quizzes, Writing, other Activities 25%
Language Arts Total = 75% LA and 25% Vocab. This is the grade that counts for honor roll.
Finals
There are no Vocabulary finals. However, the language arts finals count for one test grade per 2nd and 4th quarters.
